(ABDOMINOPLASTY) = POC
After pregnancy or substantial weight loss, many people find their abdominal muscles are weak and that the skin around the area becomes loose or saggy. In men lack of exercise, advancing age and years of business entertaining can all contribute to increasing weight over the years. Despite exercise and diet, this may be difficult to shift and cause self-consciousness and anxiety. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is the perfect solution, tightening the muscles and removing excess skin to leave a firmer and flatter abdomen.
The tummy tuck takes around 2 hours under general anaesthetic. The surgeon will make an incision across the bikini area and then repair the damaged abdominal muscles, remove any excess fat (sometimes by liposuction) and excess skin. It may also be necessary, depending on the amount of fat removed, for the surgeon to reposition your navel.
Until stitches are removed, 7-14 days after the operation, you will need to rest and wear a light supporting garment. After at least 2 weeks, you will be able to start doing light exercises to start toning muscles and help the skin to heal. Most people return to work about 14 days after the operation.
